It's a cold day for September

Sep 30, 2007 16:13

So, I'm back for my once-monthly (ish) summary of events. Yay for taking a paragraph-at-a-time break from studying for my beastly physics test tomorrow.

I've been getting more sleep than I expected most nights, though the night before physics I tend to be up later than I meant to hunting for answers to the questions. Funnily enough, the professor is ( Read more... )

It sounds like college is treating you nice. Perhaps I'll come visit someday, to see the pretty campus and all :P

Dining hall food is always questionable, I've discovered. Trust nothing you don't see prepared in front of you.

Pretty much everything is working out well, and you visiting would completely rock if it wasn't exam week or something stupid.
I trust the noodles because there's really not much you can do to ruin them and you can't freeze them overnight, and I trust the waffles because the batter looks safe and I make them myself. Everything else is treated with small bites and extreme trepidation.

You wouldn't say that about noodles if you'd ever eaten in LSU's dining hall. Overcooked, undercooked, left sitting out so long they're starting to gel .. believe me, you can definitely ruin noodles ^^;; Waffles, however, are usually safe.

I usually get a desire to go roaming in the spring or over christmas break, so I'll see about visiting you - at home, if necessary. There needs to be more nerdiness. Plus we can go to Barnes and Noble together and be so much cooler than everyone <3

I'm sorry about your noodles- the worst that ever happens to ours is that they dry out a little on the edges of the pan, and you can avoid that by not grabbing the ones that are a darker shade of yellow. I had a dining hall waffle this morning and got both satisfying waffley goodness and a visit from my muse (which made the corner of my waffle get cold while I scribbled.)

That would be excellent beyond words. My Christmas break is about a month long (it's insane,) so I have heaps of time there and plenty over spring break; I'll be home for both. And if we were to enter a Barnes and Noble to discuss fantasy, our combined nerdiness would cause the romance shoppers to implode from sheer envy.

I'm glad things are going well for you and you are enjoying some things that are not strictly class related. Good luck with the food...waffles sound good right now. Looking forward to Thanksgiving and seeing you.

Thank you! I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you at Thanksgiving too- it feels like forever since your last visit.

Hey! It sounds like you're having fun, which is really, really good. I'm working on my application there right now, actually. I'm almost done, but I need my teacher to finish with my recommendation letter...

Oh, the fun is wonderful for now, but midterms approach. Doom. Good luck with the application- I love that UNC can actually organize their application page by sensible categories, unlike certain other institutions of higher learning I could name *coughFurmancough*.
Which teacher is writing the letter?
If you do wind up here, I'll happily show you around and stuff, though UNC is surprisingly easy to figure out once you know where a few things are.

Yeah, I totally agree! I'm also working on an application for University of Illinois, and there is absolutely no sense whatsoever to the way they've done the questions. I keep worrying that I've done something wrong, just because of the way it's written.
I asked Dr. Pottinger to write the letter, since she seems to like me. I wonder if I should have picked someone who's known me longer, though.
Good luck with midterms!

If the application fails at life, e-mail them and say so- it might actually help, though too late for your applying class.
Thanks for the good wishes- I think two have gone well so far, so two more to go. Latin is going to suck a lot: the teacher is better than "my pants are in my armpits" Bedford, but we have new grammar pretty much every day.
Funnily enough, that stupid poem about the thousands of kisses showed up in group oral translation today. I made faces and tried not to whimper.

I'm so glad that you are happy there. PopPop and I agree that it is difficult to be unhappy in Chapel Hill, but that's our prejuduce. I was afraid that you might wish you were at a smaller school, but it sounds like The Southern Part of Heaven has won you over. I wish the food was better. Remember Franklin Street is ready when you are. I prayed for you Monday morning, which obviously worked since your test wasn't awful. We are counting the days until Thanksgiving. Stay safe over Fall Break. I'm going to try to update my own LJ today or tomorrow. Fall has fell. Or something. It's time to haul out the ceramic pumpkins and my big Jack o' Lantern knife. Rachel is upset that some of her friends don't want to trick or treat, She thinks gorging on Reese's cups is her constitutional right. She has found one other greedy person, so I see a pillowcase full of sugar in her future.
Thanks for updating. Any piece of news is great. I read your entry to your father before he went to work and he really enjoyed it. Duty calls.
