You'll find that a lot with calling the police - at one of my jobs, I am a mandated reporter which means that I have to contact the authorities if I suspect a child is experiencing abuse/neglect/whathaveyou and if I tried calling 911, they would tell me the same thing they told you. It's not an emergency, basically, unless it's a life-threatening issue. So maybe program the local police station's number into your phone?

Also, sucks about the car, but definitely get the info or at least the license plate next time something like that happens. People like that deserve to be prosecuted.

The system is a pain in the ass but you've got to work with it if you want to get anywhere. And how's the dog? Did that turn out okay?

Who knows i'm guessing it's okay. It was well trained and i thinkl if someone spent the time to train the dog they must really like it so i'm sure its back with its owner.

should have called the cops about the hit'n'run, rather than over the dog. bitch deserves a ticket for that, if not a straight up charge.
