Pairing: TOP/Jaejoong
Summary: TOP and Jaejoong are high level assassins for a criminal organization. When TOP faces a difficult mission Jaejoong is there to help him.
A/N: For padmik as requested! The ending kinda fizzled away...
It was always like this. Whenever he was assigned a mission that face would inevitably pop up and hinder him in some way. He didn’t think Jaejoong meant anything by it.
Usually.
He never interfered so much that TOP couldn’t hit the mark. And he was sure if he could get it together he could simply ignore his sadistic best friend. But somehow Jaejoong knew exactly how to push his buttons and fluster the usually stoic assassin.
This time however, he was determined not to let the idiot distract him from his mission. He had been assigned a big job this time. A hulking kkangpae boss and his family. He’d been watching the man for two weeks now and had finally decided that now was the time to strike. Every Thursday he ate at the same restaurant. Same seat.
And after eating half of his meal he would make his way to the bathroom without his thugs.
And when he moved, Seunghyun moved. And that irritating face moved as well, until the three of them were in the bathroom.
The assassin made sure to watch his mark carefully, and his best friend even more carefully.
“So…” Seunghyun looked over as Jaejoong spoke, the irritation clearly written on his face.
“Why are you here?” He snapped back as the man finished watching his hands. Jaejoong just smirked and creeped a bit closer, sliding his hand into his friend’s jacket to run his fingers over the gun in his pocket. It made him shiver. But he brushed it off and grabbed Jaejoong’s wrist in warning.
“You’re no fun… you know I like to watch.” Seunghyun looked towards the mark as he grit his teeth, noticing that the man was staring at them.
“Hey faggot, take that somewhere else.”
He was beginning to get even more irritated. So he did the first thing that came to his mind. Punching the guy in the face.
“Oh ho so it get’s started.” Jaejoong’s commentary did nothing but bolster Seunghyun’s anger and as the mark picked himself up from the floor the assassin grabbed his hair, slamming his face into the sink faucet with a sickening crack. But he didn’t stay down long. The neck moment he was slamming Seunghyun into the mirror beside him, sending glittering shards everywhere. Seunghyun grabbed the guy’s jacket and tried to swing him around but the weight prevented it and Seunghyun was instead slammed to the tiled floor. He could feel his lungs losing breath as punch after punch was delivered to his face. Finally he managed to grasp the knife in his pocket and deliver a sharp jab to the man’s stomach.
That effectively got the man off of him and the assassin stood up, watching the blood seep out onto the tiled floor.
“Took you long enough.” Seunghyun spit the bloody from his mouth to the floor and ignored his friend, even as he took the gun from his pocket.
“Now what will we do with you?” Seunghyun watched Jaejoong circle on the man who was clutching his bleeding stomach. Jaejoong smiled and took his own kni fe out, sliding it over the mark’s cheek before he took his hand.
“What shall we bring back hm? A finger perhaps?” Seunghyun shook his head and reached down to pull the mark’s necklace from his neck roughly.
“This will do.” A second later the second stall was covered in blood and hair and Seunghyun was cursing.
“Damnit Jaejoong! How the fuck are we going to get out of here now?” Seunghyun growled as he snatched the gun from the psychopath.
“Oh relax.” Jaejoong pointed to the window and Seunghyun sighed. There was no time to waste and he really hadn’t planned on escaping through the bathroom window but now what choice did they have. Seunghyun propped up the window and crawled out, dropping the few feet to the street below right after Jaejoong.

“You were going to kill him anyway.”
“I don’t want to hear it.” Seunghyun said through grit teeth. Still bloody and bruised, they were now in his car on their way to the dead man’s house. This was the only part of this mission he had problem with. He knew why he had to do it. But still it didn’t feel right. He didn’t kill women and children. And he really didn’t want a psychopath like Jaejoong there when he was hesitating to pull the trigger. How much flak would he give him? And what if… what if he couldn’t do it? He didn’t want to put their lives in Jaejoong’s hands. Because with him it was never a simple death.
The man continued to drive, thankfully in silence until they reached the quiet suburban house. He would have to disturb this peace. And he didn’t like it.
Seunghyun parked the car and breathed out for a moment before he hopped out and pulled up his hood. He wasn’t looking forward to this but he had planned it for weeks. And now that Jaejoong was following him around - he had to. And he had to be swift. No hesitation.
With a final sigh the tall man rapped his knuckles against the door. When a voice called out, asking who it was, Seunghyun responded.
“The police, a few break ins have been reported and we wanted to ask you a few questions.” He heard the locks clicking and he wished he hadn’t. He wished she’d ignored him and not opened the door. Perhaps then he could have simply gone home.
“You’re not the police!” Seunghyun winced as she looked from his face to the gun Jaejoong was currently twirling around and before she could wake up the kids his hand was around her mouth and he pushed her inside.
“Actually we are the police,” Jaejoong said with a laugh as he closed the door. Seunghyun sighed and took out his gun, trying not to look in her teary eyes as he shot her.
No time to think about it. Time to move on.
Seunghyun made his way up the stairs but before he could get to the room he knew housed the dead couple’s two children he heard a click.
He should have known that there would be some security there. Seunghyun bit his lip and closed his eyes as he heard the shot fire.
It was dim. He couldn’t see very well but he could heart Jaejoong’s voice. He was speaking to someone but he couldn’t hear the other person.
“Jae?” Seunghyun’s voice felt raspy and he heard Jaejoong hang up the phone and return to his side. “What happened?” He asked as he tried to sit up, but a surprisingly gentle hand at his shoulder disallowed him to do so.
“You got shot that’s what happened.” Seunghyun winced as he finally felt the stinging pain at his side.
“What about the mission?”
“I took care of it.” The assassin closed his eyes and let his friend stroke those long finger’s through his hair without protest. He didn’t want to imagine what Jaejoong had done and instead settled on enjoying the rare gentle touch.
“You shouldn’t be so reckless.” Seunghyun opened his eyes to look at Jaejoong’s worried ones and he smiled for the first time that night.
“I’m sorry.”
Easily pacified, the soft spoken man laid beside his friend and continued to stare into his eyes for a moment before he laughed and moved some hair from his eyes. He knew they were opposites in every way. Seunghyun was cold while Jaejoong was expressive. Seunghyun was careful, discreet while Jaejoong preferred his victims to go out with a bang. Seunghyun was admittedly asexual while Jaejoong would do anyone who was interesting enough.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“Kill. Everyone.”
“Maybe.”
