Because of the election, Anakin and Rory hadn't gotten a chance to celebrate her birthday together, so they'd gone to dinner and then gotten a hotel room where they could celebrate being kid-free for a night.

Anakin had invited Ulrik to meet up with him for their Day of Fun and Learning outside of Juliet's preschool, since he was dropping her there anyway.

Anakin was in his office with Christopher today (Rory was home sleeping off an election-related caffeine crash).
He was a little disappointed not to see the elephants and donkeys around any more: they would have kept the baby entertained for a while.
But then, Anakin reflected as he watched his son, Chris's own fists kept him entertained well -

It was a good news/bad news sort of day.
The good news: Luke was coming in for the dance this weekend. The bad news: with only 18 days to go in the election, Rory wasn't going to be able to make it.
Anakin was trying not to be too bummed out by that news as he scanned Amazon.com and laughed at the binder reviews he found there.
