Speaking of mad scientist alternate histories, have you read Leviathan yet? I ask 'cause I just all but mainlined the trilogy and IT ROCKS.

I just picked up the first one last weekend, actually! Good timing. Except for the part where I'm really really late.

Relax. I'd had it on my 'to read' list for ages and when I finally opened it, I wondered why the hell it took me so long to pick it up.

One trip to the bookstore after finishing it later, I found the answer was 'So I wouldn't have to wait for the rest of the trilogy to come out'.

I just finished his Uglies trilogy when I saw Leviathan and remembered "Oh yeah, same guy, been meaning to check this out." Decided I'd rather get it than Extras, since the excerpt at the end of Specials didn't really grab me.
