Yuletide letter '11

Dear author,

Thank you for doing this, because you are awesome. I hope you have fun with this, first and foremost.

I really like characters. Interaction, backstory, anything that makes them feel real. Angst, humor (absurd, dry, whatever), drama, I'm very easily sold on situations, but it's the characters that make a story for me. I like AUs, because I like exploring different aspects of characterization and dropping them into a completely different circumstance or having them meet different people is (to me) an interesting way of doing so. In all honesty, I'm very easy to please. I'm not a fan of torture, non-con/rape, character bashing, and PWP.

Axe Cop! Anything focusing on Dinosaur Soldier or Wexter would be awesome, because DINOSAURS. Please no angst. Balls-out weird and/or awesome a plus.

Axe Cop is fun. I would prefer no angst, please, because... it's Axe Cop. It's fun and weird and DINOSAUR COP AND WEXTER ARE DINOSAURS. WITH GUNS. Sometimes you just want to read (or write) something off the wall bizarre.

Fallen Angel! Anything focusing on Liandra, please. Her screwed up relationship with Jude is a plus, but other characters (Black Mariah, Asia Minor, God, Enoch, Doctor Juris) would be just as welcome. Any time period, any situation. Please no Liandra/Jude.

I'm a huge fan of this comic, even if it's not coming out so regularly any more. Liandra is a fascinating character to me, and the way she's (spoilers?) decided "Fuck it," after hearing what her son really thinks of her and that being the tipping point for her in going back to God and actively trying to end the world? I'm not a mother, but that says a lot about how strong her feelings for her son are/were and how deeply that hurt her, when even pestering from God His/Herself wasn't enough to get her to swap sides. And I love a lot of the side characters that populate Bete Noir, especially Black Mariah and Asia Minor, so if the author chooses to write about them instead of Jude, I'm perfectly okay with that. I'd really prefer no Liandra/Jude, but I'm fine with any other pairing if the author wishes to write that, or gen, or an AU or anything.

The Unwritten! This is kind of an either/or. I'd either like something focusing on Lizzie (possibly her hanging out with Savoy, though that's up to you) OR something with Paulie Bruckner being a complete and utter bastard in storybook rabbit form.

My three favorite issues of The Unwritten focus around Lizzie and Paulie. The choose-your-own adventure style that focused on how warped Lizzie's mind has been was beautiful and solidified her as one of my favorite characters, because I'm so of two minds on how I view her character. On the one hand, she's strong. And on the other, it's because she believes something that is a complete lie and is embracing a supporting role because that's what literary tradition says she needs to be, since Tom is obviously The Hero. But she's still resourceful and smart and interesting and does the rescuing and is trying to be a mentor.

And then there's Paulie, who I love because he's a character from a Guy Ritchie movie and also a rabbit. And he started his own religion, kind of. He goes from place to place, causing chaos and is foul-mouthed and self-serving and is a complete and utter douchebag and I kind of can't help but like him because he's so completely unapologetic about it.

So really, anything featuring either of those two would please me to no end.

Sons of Anarchy! Gemma. Gemma Gemma Gemma. Gemma doing anything with anyone as long as she is the queen of all awesome and badass that she truly is.

Okay, I know that Gemma isn't perfect. She makes really bad decisions and is sometimes really insecure and isn't as strong as she tries to present herself on occasion. But god, I love her. I'm a latecomer to the show but I fell hard for Gemma. Seriously, Katey Sagal is so good. She's protective and angry and manipulative and she really is like the freaking queen of the club, even if she officially has no power. She's totally their queen and their mom. I wouldn't mind seeing her being mom-like with Jax, or mentor-like with Tara, or even with Unser or Tig or JT. Or whoever, I'm easy. I'm kind of not so big on Clay after this past episode, but they did have happier times in the past and I am big on bittersweet stuff. Or just hanging out with the club, or her grandbabies, or anything. God, I love Gemma. (Please no incest.)
