I must read this at once, for I had some serious problems with the Millennium Trilogy as well. *goes to do so, will share thoughts*

Ugh, yes. For various reasons, I saw the US version of the movie before reading the book -- I know that the book is better than the movie nine times out of ten, the original better than the remake, but I hadn't gotten around to reading it and the family was heading to the movies for the holidays.

And I realized I shoulda done a bit of research because I didn't expect it to be that rape-y. I . . . I get that rape is srs bzness and horrible but I like my fiction to be fantasy enough that they don't need to deal with this kind of shit.
