I haven't posted much on the LJ for quite some time, but I've been busy with the whole new job thing.  Since moving to Minneapolis I have become really involved in my lace making.

I wanted share a few projects.  For practice with my reticella I worked on a small pieced that I made into a sweet bag.  I loved this project.  It only took me a few days ( Read more... )

Hi!! You know I totally blame you for my current obsession with lace. If you haven't shown me that Ruskin lace book years back, I would have never followed this road. :)

When I'm using the weaving method for the foundation bars I work each square individually and I run the thread through the back of the bar and cut the tail.

I found some great books in Italy by a Reticalla lace maker there.

Guida al ricamo Reticello e merletto veneziano by Laura Marzorati is the first and she has a slightly more advanced second book. They are completely in Italian, but I translated the important beginnings of both books. I bought mine from Abebooks. It is cheaper to buy them from an Italian book seller. The images are great and she demonstrates anchoring through the woven bar.

For a larger motif I use a wrapped foundation and use bristol paper to create anchors using the amelia ars method. I use the Un Bordo book as a reference for this. :)
