So what does one do...

... when "Jacoby Ellsbury" friends you on Facebook? ^_^

Note: at least 37 people on Facebook claim to be named Jacoby Ellsbury, in addition to the listing in the "Athlete" section (where one is a fan, not a friend).

Can't tell if I should do it for the amusement value or send a message saying "No, really... who are you?"

Gave me a smile, at

How do you get to the Athlete section on Facebook? Add him just to see if it really is him or not

I would totally friend him and then you'll probably be able to tell if it's him!

(Johnathon Papelbon used to be on FaceBook...his was kind of an easy spot!)

This is the link for his "Athlete" page. There's a link at the top for "Browse more Celebrities/Public Figures." Not sure how much Facebook polices those, though, given that there are two for Adam Sandler on the first page of "Celebrities"...

There's nothing about the "Jacoby" who friended me that would make me think he or she is Jacoby. ^_^ I'm just wondering if I know who it is!

if he's in the Oregon State network it's probably legit (or as close at it's gonna get) because you need a college email to join a college network. Also if you can you could look at who his friends are and see if there's anything telling there.
I'm a college student facebook stalking is my job haha

I work at a university... don't think your elders don't do their own research. ;)

But there's nothing about this "Jacoby" to make me think he's Jacoby, trust me!

I know nothing about Facebook, but this is pretty funny.

BTW, just heard that Jacoby finished third in the ROY voting. Longoria, of course, won it.

I thought Longoria deserved it--I was glad to see he'd snagged all the first place votes.

I'm friends with Masterson on Facebook! It's legitimately him, too--he's in the San Diego State network and everything.

Not to minimize a wonderful thing, but I think Justin's pretty liberal on that score. He's friends not only with me but with Steve the Ferret... and belongs to a group called "I have people on my friends list I don't even know." ^_^ (And if there were one for "I have ferrets on my friends list I don't even know" I think he'd join that too!)

Oh, of course not. I'm friends with several fictional people, as well... Heh.

Hee, I would probably smile and blush. And then I would play all coy and poke him a few times before I confirmed our friendship. And then I would tag every single one of my pictures of him on FB. And he would probably be a little scared. And then I'd study his profile every day to figure out his schedule and try to "bump" into him. Soon I'd be stalking him with my camera, and when he sees that I've tagged a picture of him in his pjs, he'd probably de-friend me. Yeah, that's probably what would happen if he ever tried to friend me on FB.
