Here's another nugget for your bio database: the common names of fishes should not be capitalized unless they are proper nouns (e.g., Dolly Varden vs. mangrove killifish...which is a weird little bastard but not quite alarming as pearlfishes).
I didn't know you played piano. I am a huge fan of C.P.E. Bach, especially his piano solos and especially his free-form fantasias. That's some stuff!
Another friend, mandolinist/composer Neil Gladd, often works with belly dancers.
Ah! But Mangrove Killifish was the name of the instructor >:) Seriously, that's good to know.
I took up piano when I started school at Kirkwood. It's been a lifesaver and very relaxing to boot. C.P.E. Bach is amazing. Even his simple pieces are very rewarding to play. The Solfeggio, OTOH, while simple in the fact that it's a single line sort of piece ( primarily), is difficult in its simplicity. It wouldn't be so bad if it were marked Adagio, but Prestissimo is a different story. I think I'm up to Allegro at this point.
It raises an interesting point: was Prestissimo as fast back then as it is now? I know that lutes, guitars, recorders, etc. could handle the tempo, but would the action of a Pianoforte ( Fortepiano) be quick enough?
Alas, my belly dancers have discarded me like a tattered veil. I haven't heard from them for at least a month now.
