If you get a sufficiently underpowered laptop, you could take it as an opportunity to try out free software. It's hard to beat the licensing costs of "free". Anami writes with the OpenOffice word processor packaged in Ubuntu (http://ubuntulinux.com) and seems reasonably satisfied.
