In memorandum: Pope John Paul II 1920-2005

"The great danger for family life, in the midst of any society whose idols are pleasure, comfort and independence, lies in the fact that people close their hearts and become selfish."
John Paul II

Hate to disagree with the pope but my idols ARE in fact pleasure, comfort and independence...and since embracing them openly in recent years, I've become a more generous, easygoing person who cares more about other people and wants them to be at least as happy as I am, if not more so. It's an extension of my "Manifest Paradise" mantra.

That's just me, though. ;)

Wait, are you saying you've closed your heart and become selfish?
I don't know that I see you that way.

???!?

In...what way did you get "closed heart" and "selfish" out of my direct statement -

"I've become a more generous, easygoing person who cares more about other people and wants them to be at least as happy as I am, if not more so."

I'm just saying the pope was dead wrong on some things. Generalizations like this one seem to leave no room for reality.

I was extrapolating silly. :)
You *haven't* become those things *despite* your self proclaimed idols.
