BMN

Another Sunday, another Bad Movie Night™. Last night's feature was an awful film from 1990 called Shadowzone. As I've said before and I'm sure I'll say again, anything is forgivable except for just plain dullness and this film is almost intolerably dull. Sure, there are bare breasts and a couple of gory scenes including a juicy head explosion, but ( Read more... )

That Fantastic Four movie looks full of wonderful cheese and bad acting.

The bits I caught were indeed just that.

Oh! I did catch and enjoy the premise that their powers are an expression of their personality traits. For instance, Mr. Fantastic was always working too hard and "stretching himself thin". Get it?!

James Hong deserved more movies of the calibre of BTiLC!

Interesting fact about the Fantastic Four film. :-)

I'm so happy to find out he's still alive... I was mixing him up with Victor Wong there, for a second. :-)

Exactly. Oh well, you need a truly boring experience now and again so you can better appreciate the not-so-boring ones?

You know, I'm pretty sure I saw "Shadowzone" ages ago. Or at least a film that was remarkably similar.

Anyway, for your next Bad Movie Night, I can recommend "Xtro II: The Second Encounter" (I'm also pretty sure there never was Xtro I). Incredibly wooden acting, but at least there's Nick Lea in one of his first roles.

Awesome, thanks for the tip! And it appears there was indeed an Xtro I in 1983. Check out these trivia bits for Xtro II nabbed from IMDB:

Director Harry Bromley Davenport has stated that he personally hates this film and only made it for money because somehow he retained the rights to the name Xtro.

In an interview director Harry Bromley Davenport said star Jan-Michael Vincent was extremely difficult to work with. Vincent didn't care about the film and thus didn't memorize his lines. Davenport was then forced to feed every line to him while filming each scene.

This sequel has nothing to do the original Xtro (1983). This is because director Harry Bromley Davenport somehow retained the rights to the name Xtro but not the story rights. Needing money he enlisted writers to write a completely different film and only use the Xtro name to capitalize on the cult success of the original.

Yeah, I think we'll be watching this one soon. Thanks again. : )

Holy hell, and there's a THIRD installment! Trailers:

ROTFL, oh man. Yeah, you can actually have a marathon now: Xtro I, II and III. Though it does appear, amazingly so, that the II is actually the best of those three. Well, the plot makes a bit more sense.
