Got a bit of a shock this morning when I popped online. There was a message waiting for me to let me know my parent's house burned down. I'm halfway around the world (well, 1/3 of the way), so with time zone differences and such, I found out about 20 hours after it started. Had my stuff gone up, it would've added another layer to the shock. I like to think that eventually, I'd have rationalized it down to "I've been living without all that for 8 years now, so back to as I was" but there's a good chance I'd have turned into that old guy who always says "I had me one of them, back before the fire" about what seems to be damn near everything. Especially in relation to Star Wars toys.
