Road goes ever on and on....

Got myself two interviews coming up for teaching jobs in Japan. I'm going to have to do them in Toronto, meaning a 3 night stay at a hotel. It'll be like a mini version of the grand trip to come. The first interview sounds like quite the trial, as on the third day (if I make it to then, seems like there will be quite the compitition lined up for ( Read more... )

Good luck on the interviews! The 30-minute practice class does sound scary, but as long as you're prepared for it, you should do fine. When you get there, they'll probably expect you to be a bit nervous, but as long as you practice & also try to relax a bit, you should do fine!

And it's good seeing you again! I don't think you've posted in awhile...

Wow that was some fast typing. I truly believe you replied to my post just as I was putting it up. I dont know how that can be done, but I have suspicions...:P

I'm sure they're used to nervousness from their interviewee's, especially since the companies don't demand any specific degree or training, but I just don't like the idea of working in the dark. It's like being to told to study from any book I want, but learning which is the right book right before the exam. Anyways, I still like my Wild Bunch reference heh heh.

And it has been a while since I posted, I've been trying to work out some of the odd emotions I've been having the past few weeks due to the move, but I think writing them out is unbelievably therepeutic. Plus I've been getting into all the cool bands gothic americana have been suggesting. I want Trailer Bride played at my funeral, heh. Good stuff. Thanks for replying!

Have you checked out Slim Cessna's Auto Club or Jay Munly (& the Lee Lewis Harlots) yet? If not, I highly recommend them. You can download a bunch of Slim Cessna's & a few of Munly's songs off the Alternative Tentacles site. I've particularly been getting into Munly--his songs are quite dark & unique.

I found some of their stuff but haven't actually sat down to listen to any yet. Do you suggest anything particular to start with?

Hey, I thought you were staying with us?
What are the days (not dates) of your trip? If it's not between Tues-Thurs(Morning), then you can even have your own room and a bed. If not, it's couch time for ole Benny boy.

Heh, I never know where to find you. I send an email and you answer me on here :D

I wasn't sure if you were ok to have me for the three day trial, because I figured you might be coming to Windsor for the weekend. The Feb interviews are on a Fri, Sat and Sun, which is kind of crazy I think. What sucks is that the Fri and Sat ones are like 2hrs long at the most, which means you and Vicki will have to lavishly entertain me exhaustively so as I don't grow bored...

Seriously though I won't be trouble, let me know if Feb 25-27 is alright.

Latah skatah!

"Tonight and the Rest of My Life" is such an awesome song. It's so SAD! My boyfriend used to hear it all the time at work and he was always so inquisitive as to who it was, and was kind of surprised when he finally found out it was her.

I've got similar fears about getting jobs. Granted, yours seems quite a bit more promising and lucrative than anything I could get here, but I'm still riding the fence with it--if I get this job, how will it change my life, and if I don't...what do I do, then?

All the best for this interview for you. :)

As for the bands gothic americana have been suggesting--holy, bleeding Jesus! I'm really glad I decided to ask for some suggestions, because they gave me so much to work with! I was thinking of Trailer Bride before I fell asleep last night, actually. I'm just sad that I don't have any money to get anything of theirs! :( But yeah, holy cow, they were really helpful!

I haven't heard Trailer Bride yet. I'm going to look & see if I can download any of their songs. I totally hear you on not having the money to buy music--I buy one thing a month, & the rest, I download off the 'net (legally, of course!).

Thank you for all your kind words! That interview still sits there like a mountain in my way, but I'm hoping it will all turn out all right, one way or another. If I blow this one, I have another interview in March so no worries.

I do love that song, too. For some reason I attribute it to a great summer I had, but I can't place anything more specific than that. No images or memories, just the idea that it was part of a good summertime. Few days back the thought of it just invaded my mind, so I grabbed it from the net and relistened to it. It really is a beautiful song, kinda magical.

What job do you have looming in the future? (and that's what jobs do, don't they? Kinda loom , heh) I love to hear about people moving in different directions.

Sadly, the jobs I applied for are like those thin, wispy, temporary clouds. They haven't been looming, though I've all but begged them to. No one wants to hire me, ha. I applied for two secretarial positions and have heard nothing. This, among other things, has got me feeling heavy-hearted. Drag. I feel stagnant right now, when I want to be moving like heat lightning.
