It is rather odd that I can read the odd war story and I am fine up to a point, though the Pacific arena is beyond me but I have read a few Battle of Britain memoirs and, while they don't shy away from sorrow and the pity of war, they did make stirring reading. But yes, by and large I can't watch stuff like that at all...too visceral.
Oh dear. I would have been in rather the same boat. I don't do dark or horror. Blinders are a must for this fest. The art posted today is great, but goodness, I about died when I opened it. I was at my sister's house with her 5 yr old daughter sitting next to me. Yikes... I will be more careful now! lol! (See didn't see it, but it was a close thing!)
Oh Meladara! I'm sorry but I laughed at the idea of a five year old niece peering over your shoulder and seeing a skinny Snape in such a pose! Hopefully it'll just be more of the same - nasty, creepy Snape doing unsavoury things and not too much true nastiness. I can hope, right?
I am doing well enough. Some parts of today were hard but I had my sister (and family) by my side the whole day and we have always been able to laugh together, even in the most difficult of times. And, as I told Laralee88 earlier today, my childhood crush happens to be one of the pastor's son at my grandmother's church. At least I had him to look at... though, I had hoped he would age worse, he isn't suppose to still be hot after 30 years! lol! ;)
A good sister makes all things bearable. My sister is my hero.
and Yay! for well preserved childhood crushes. I saw mine at a school reunion a few months ago. Turns out he is gay and that made me feel much better for never being able to get a date with him. *hugs*
I read the latest story from the end to the beginning. A terrible thing to do I know, but I reason that if there is anything truly vile in the story then I'll get a better warning by this method than starting at the beginning, then being lured in and pounced on by a sudden squick. :o)
I know for a fact there are some nice stories in there ;)
Can't wait to see more stories there. Can't wait for the Exchange, either... (Also, there's the Hermione Smut Exchange posting at the moment -wink, wink, nudge, nudge-)
It was you! YOU crafted my two beautiful gifts for the sshg_exchange!! Oh, I cannot thank you enough, truly -- I have read the one and looked at the other so many, many, many times, and my pleasure only grows. Bless your seemingly infinite skill and generosity :)
