Summer Has Exploded...

...all over the meadow at the bottom of our hill. I could see great drifts of pollen blowing up the mountain this morning. The dog came back from his walk caked in the stuff - his white bib is still a dainty yellow and he smells of mayflowers. It is an intensely sweet, almost edible smell and just sitting in the same room as him is enough to give ( Read more... )

If you ever need a viewing audience, feel free to send photos my way! :) I'm not sure how much professional expertise I can offer, since my own artistic skills are further down toward Stick Figure on the ability scale, but I'm doing an art history doctorate, so have to least looked at my fair share of art works!

Ooh I love art history! I did a little for my degree but nothing really in depth. What are you studying in particular?
And I will take you up on that offer, thank you. As long as you are not expecting great things. It is more along the lines of story book illustration than anything else and it has a regrettable tendency to look rather 'flat'. So I need another eye :o)

Heh, you probably did something a bit more practical for your degree! :D I'm studying an art patron, Charles Brasch, who basically helped to shape the path of 20th century NZ art history. He left a huge legacy of biographical material and literally about twenty linear metres of boxes of paperwork in the archives, so it's both a researcher's dream and nightmare, really!! Flying visit since the power's been down tonight and the internet keeps cutting out, but I've seen and squee'd over your first post, so will hopefully offer slightly more intelligent commentary tomorrow! :)

I can completely relate to your allergy woes. After years of protest, I have relented and begun allergy shots. I still await the benefits... Maybe next spring...

Speaking as a person who is allergic to every tree in the area (to the point where I can't eat apples, which is ironic since I live in an apple producing state) I feel for you!

As Kim is doing, allergy shots are probably the way to go. Though the full and proper results still take a couple of years to really manifest. I manage with a daily dose of Loratadine instead.

As for your artwork, honestly quality is such a subjective thing. And often what we don't like, others love. I'm not an Art History anything, but a general appreciator of art and also offer my eyes and opinions if you'd like.
