SS/HG preferences

May 29, 2012 14:50

As I surely hope that the person whose prompts I get given has done one of these I will try my best to say what sort of stuff I like and so on. So I will pootle about with my original prompts etc and see how we go. I think I'll put the additions in blue, just for clarity's sake.

Three…oops, four fic prompts:

1.Take your favourite poem and use it as inspiration for a (happy) short story.
This one really must be happy. I once read a story based on The Highwayman  it was brilliantly done and it left me feeling awful for days. I sometimes like a good tearjerker  (Truly Madly Deeply is one of my fave films) but most of the time a well done tragedy really affects me in a negative way.  There doesn't have to be poetry in it, just inspired by it... And it has to be YOUR favourite poem :o)

2. Severus, crow animagus; Hermione’s beloved, antique diamond haircombs; Crookshanks; silliness if possible.
I will be just thrilled with whatever you could come up with for this. I love crows, they are such intelligent, nasty, maligned creatures and I have never met a Crookshanks that I didn't like.

3. Hemione holidays somewhere warm and beautiful (Tuscany perhaps?) and there she meets a certain dark wizard. How does she come to realise who he is? What is he doing there? Where do they go from there and why? If there could be luscious food and a kiss in the warm rain, well - that would be just splendid.
Fairly self explanatory I think. I tried to make this one really open to interpretation...

4. I’ve read a fair number of fics where Hermione is a healer or otherwise nurses Severus back to health. I would love to read a fic where Severus heals Hemione. How bad/ longlasting/ traumatic the injury and how she sustained it is up to you but I’d love to see the development of fondness growing between them in that scenario.
Same here...

You can probably tell that I run to the light hearted stuff. There probably isn't that much room for angst, at least in the first two. So, going along with that I don't mind a lighter hearted, more relaxed post DH Snape but it can't be too OTT, please don't give me Soppy Snape, I couldn't bear it. Keep him grumpy and sarcastic by all means. However, I switch off from utter creep, mean, cruel git very quickly.
I like a bright but ordinary girl, canon Hermione (without her canon prediliction for marrying mean, manipulative redheads, obviously).
I quite like a little angst if you need it, but senseless flailing around, being silly and obtuse can get a bit wearing unless the groundwork is really well laid.
I like show not tell when it comes to fic.

Three art prompts:

1. The Forbidden Forest at some kind of half way light: dawn, twilight, mist. Perhaps Severus returning from a mission and Hermione waiting for him?

2. Severus and animagus Hermione curled up together tenderly. What animal is up to you, but I do have a fondness for jarveys.

3. Something to do with fairy lights. Fairy lights are some of my favourite things. So perhaps a first Christmas or a night time garden?

I am not one of those who will say "I prefer fic."
I will be utterly thrilled to recieve art (or craft or what ever). I am not kidding - THRILLED.
See below for art preferences.

What genre/theme/content would you absolutely refuse to write or draw?
Non/dubcon; mpreg; dark/sadistic/cruelty; crackfic, threesomes. BDSM I just want to add that I positively enjoy reading con bdsm but oh, for the love of bunnys, don't ask me to write it!   I am not terribly good at writing very explicit lemons but I would have a stab at lemonish. Again, I must say that I like lemons, gimme lemons. Hell, gimme pwp if that's what you want to do and you can manage to crank my prompts that way. That's fiiiine by me!

With the art prompts: I am not that good at portraying movement/action or really intense emotion.

What genre/theme/content would you absolutely NOT want to receive?
Non/dubcon; mpreg; dark/sadistic/cruelty; crackfic. HG/SS death or tragedy (although I don’t mind other characters dying). No threesomes please. Not that fussed on really heavy angst-ridden stuff either but a little ansgst is fine as long as it is resolved sensibly.

Although Alan Rickman is my Snape, I really dislike photo manips of  him and Emma Watson together. I am a fan of both actors, but the real life age gap squicks me out more than a bit.
I have recently found out that some like Adrian Brody for a Snape...umm, that's not for me either thanks.
Mark Strong, however....nomnomnom.

Do you have a strong preference to be assigned a particular genre/theme/content?
I find poetry and folk and fairy tales particularly inspirational. I also enjoy writing romantic, happy, light hearted stories and historical stuff (Regency is fine but can do other periods too). I’d love to have a go at creature fic and I wouldn’t mind a stab at a tear jearker/ sad fic.

Do you have a strong preference to receive a particular genre/theme/content?
Romance, adventure, fluff, mystery. Happy ending is essential. Daddy Snape is a guilty pleasure. I like a good lemon but plot is more important.
I know I mentioned pwp above and here I am saying that lemons don't matter. I really don't mind one way or the other. Some people really can't or don't like write(ing) lemons. If that's you then seriously, that's fine. I can't write lemons myself... and I'm dead chuffed that someone is going to write anything for me! :o)

With regard to art preferences: I like watercolour washes, pen and ink drawings, collage, and pencil sketches. Not hugely fussed on felt tip stuff.
With the art style, to be honest I will be so freaking delighted to get that as a gift I really won't mind how you go about making it.
I paint a little myself and I craft a lot so I know precisely the amount of effort and second guessing that goes into a work and I know  that this is not the easy way out in a fic exchange.
I don't think my prompts lean towards a bold style. I produce detailed, delicate stuff myself (flat and washed out on a bad day - see what I mean about second guessing?) so that is the way my mind falls I suppose. But surprise me if you want to.
Did you get the bit where I said I'd be THRILLED to get art? :-D

Edited to add: Oh Lord, I forgot chibis. Didn't know what they were before I found Deviant art, they had never entered on my radar before but please don't make me one of those little feckers. I can't stand them!

Artists I like: Jackie Morris, Brian Froud, Jill Barklem. I like the detailed prettiness and dreamy quality. If you want to see what artists I favour on Deviant Art my account is here. and now that I have looked over them again I can see that there is plenty of vivid and bold works in the heap, so don't feel restricted.

If you are a crafter then I will be pleased with anything you make for me. Seriously. I know my way around a craft table myself so I will appreciate your work greatly.

And that's it. Words fail to convey how happy I am going to be to get your gift. But for now - Thanks xx.
