I'm finding myself absolutely sick of fucking gamer snobs. One of the reasons I feel like this is because I'm noticing (while checking out a potential online game) that they like to create kinda Arbitrary rules regarding things, in order to "Keep away to twinks" I hate this. I don't mind keeping away the people who want to do nothing but scream about how "T3h aw3s0me" their character is, and make the game unplayable for other members, but to set down a series of arbitrary, and annoying rules, just to keep potential players away, that's just silly. Everyone I know can spot a twink, about a 100 miles off, and frankly it's alot easier to say "Um..I don't think you should play with us" than it is to deal with a bunch of GOOD players who don't get the stuff they would like because the ST is afraid that a twink will get it. It's frickin annoying, and one of the reasons I've stopped dealing with many gamers, because they'd rather set up silly rules about what I can't have as a player character, rather than help take my concept and spin it into a good story for all.
Blue, a couple of days ago after what must have been an absolutely fabulous time at War of the Roses, decided that he was going to try to convince me to come back to an SCA event, and after various degrees of thought on the subject I'd have to say my answer remains "I'd rather play WoW." I've got no problem with people who enjoy the SCA (cept the fucking snobs who take it FAR too seriously..*smirk*) but frankly If I'm going to waste time (and money) doing something medieval, I'd much rather be something I was actually enjoying most parts of. Bah, there was a Handy dandy chart I was gonna setting up, but I don't need it. I think it's relatively simple actually,
1. The People I like who're SCA members see me outside the SCA.
2. There are far more things I dislike about the group than I like on a fundamental level. (I can go into examples if you'd like)
3. I think the SCA in this area is kinda wack, and they don't really catch my interest.
4. Fortunately or Un, I have several negative associations with the SCA now, and I can't just "filter them out" like most people say to do. I can't just ignore some of the things I saw while hanging out with tersha/being intertwined with the group.
So sorry Blue, You'll have to enjoy whichever event is next by your lonesome. I'm not interested, and WoW is FAR more interesting to me.
