Unstructured play is better play

My mother was right all along. Experts are finally realizing that children don't need Baby Einstein and Leap Frog to be better off later on in life. In fact these could do more harm than good. Children need unstructured play where they can make up the rules, create their own worlds. They need the opportunity to learn how to play on their own. ( Read more... )

Well, I grew up off a dirt road in the middle of north Jersey woods. My imagination was my playground. I agree all this high tech stuff isn't really needed. Books, attention, and tons of talking. That's what kids need to be given. Kids used to just have marbles and bottle caps, my bro and I used to play jacks and card games.
