Why is Literature so prevalent in nearly every culture throughout human history? The Greeks had their Tragedies and Comedies and the Norse had their warrior poetry. Even cave paintings from the age before written words can be likened to literature. So why is literature so present throughout our total history ( Read more... )

Very good post. You're right about the human experience. I think we learn a lot from literature though!

I agree. Literature through the years reflects the best and the worst of human culture. The best aspects shown are to be praised, where as the worst aspects are to be learned from.

That's definitely the purpose of literature, and I think by understanding this we can further develop ourselves as individuals.
