When I went to connecticut this past summer, I made the point that my family members should grow up and stop being so damned touchy about their politics. If they could do that, then my father and my grandfather would be able to have a decent conversation without one calling the other an idiot, when both know that it's not the case.
I mean, I'm a hypocrite for saying so, as I inherited it from them, but I'd like to think that I've grown up just a little in the past few years...on this...
Did they give you a rough time about not wearing all black?
That's one thing i've avoided like the plague here, politics. It is divisive and often ill founded and, more importantly, cares more about ideas that the living people who generate them. But I am going to meet to talk (if I get the time) with someone who was offended by something that I was not offended by. It should be an interesting time. I'll let you know if diversity with dialogue is possible.
Also, do you still think your allowed to be proud of people who self-identify with the group you self-identify with?
