Finally some GOOD news

So, finally, I am getting a new job. I am finally quitting my crappy company that I have bitched and complained about for the last 2 years, finally getting away from the boss that I have hated for 6 months, finally going to make almost double what I'm making now.
If you care, here's the back story:

So, 6 months ago, our company brought in a new manager from Phoenix. The lady who was managing our store was fed up with it, and she didn't want to manage anymore. She basically got stuck with it in the first place when they fired the old manager.
I had thought it would be a good move to bring him down here. He had spent a couple weeks down in Tucson before, and I worked with him, and he taught me a lot. He showed me ways to work more effeciently, showed me some tricks I never knew before. He was also really cool. He was sharp and didn't take crap, he knew when people were BSing, unlike other people who worked there at the time.
That was before he was a manager. Now that he's a manager, he's a different person. For some reason, he is on commission. That means that, the better our store does in the corporate chain, the more he gets paid. Therefore, he is obsessed with costs and numbers and totals and won't pay money for anything if it will hurt our numbers.
He also has the habit of being a major asshole. He is not cut out to be a manager. You go to him with a problem, and it better be important, or he'll roll his eyes at you. Or me, anyway.
Hell, it's getting late, and I'm tired of bitching.

The new job will be easier. It's called Shirley's Plan Service. It's still related to what I do now, which is a blueprint company, printing out plans and specification books for construction projects. Well, over at Shirley's, Shirley handles all kinds of plans. But she doesn't print them, she just makes them available for people to look at. She puts them online (well, that will be my job), and keeps a set in the office for people to look at. If they want a set to take, they can buy one from the blueprint place.

A couple months ago, my buddy at work quit to go work at Shirley's. I could have had the job, but I delayed and didn't call to apply. Well, he got the job, and when I saw him on a weekend, hanging out, he was telling me how great it was there, so much more relaxed and no dress code or anything. I was jealous, and was kicking myself for not going over, especially when he told me how much he'd be making.

Well, somebody is quitting there, and when my friend found out, he told Shirley about me, and told her that I was the best person for the position. When I called her this morning, she basically was glad to hear from me, and my friend was telling me that if I applied, I would have the job. Well, I went right after work to go see them, and they were happy. Basically she told me that she was offering the job to me and me alone. She told me if I accepted the job, I would do this and that. It wasn't, "If we choose you," it was, "If you accept the position."
I told her I'd call her in the morning and let her know whether I'll be giving 2 weeks notice or not. I was going to try to give more notice, but I don't think I will. I wanted to make it easier to find and train someone new, but I know my boss is going to make my life difficult for the next 2 weeks, so why extend my pain?
So, on April 9, I will be starting a new job. Damn, I haven't said that in 3 years!
I didn't even have to fill out an application. I asked her if I needed to sign anything, and she said, "No, not until you start, you fill out one of those little tax thingies." that gets an LOL from me, because my current company has a 1/2 inch thick stack of paper you have to sign when you hire on there. The application alone is 5 pages, including 2 disclaimers.
I'm relieved to get out of a corporate environment. It's a small, indepentently owned shop, and probably always will be. Since they're getting into the online plan management, then they are looking to the future (I think that plans will be exclusively online in another 10 years, no more printing).

OK that was too long and rambly. Sorry, I'm tired and excited. :P
The bottom line is: My boss can kiss my ass!

new job, blueprinting, work, my boss is an asshole
