You can't salvage your hard drive at all? On my old computer the motherboard got warped and now it's nothing more than a massive paperweight that I can't bear to throw out because it survived a 70 mph car crash with me and gdi, you don't throw stuff out after stuff like that, but I was able to remove the hard drive and stuff it into an external case. Now I have a 70GB hard drive and all my stuff saved, at the very least.

Seriously-if you hadn't heard your computer making really ominous high-pitched shrieking noises (that means the head that reads your hard drive (think of a vinyl record player) is scratching the surface of your hard drive and destroying everything), your hard drive should be fine. SAVE IT! ;_; There's no reason you should lose everything.

Anyway, um, I'll try to keep an eye out for laptop deals for you! What kind of laptop are you looking for? I got this little netbook for two hundred bucks, so there are good deals out there. Factory refurbished is the way to go, I'm telling you!

Yeah, sure I could save it. But what am I going to use it as? I like the paperweight suggestion. tbh there's no way I could afford another laptop rn, even if it were ridiculously cheap :/ For some reason, colleges think they can actually charge you for attendance, trying to give that shit an official name like ~tuition~ to make it look more legit. idek man. So until I can find something to transfer all my shit to, everything's inaccessible /o\

I've heard good things about netbooks! But I need a CD drive, and to buy one of those, plus an external since they don't really have too much space, would sorta draw even unless I got an insane deal ;; /keeps fingers crossed eternally

So yeah, it'll be a while before I can really do anything one way or the other.

I meant that you were mourning the loss of stuff like photos, songs, etc...and you don't need to lose anything if you save your hard drive and stuff it into an external case? Because then you can just port all your files onto your new computer (or leave them there, idk) and then you can keep everything?

Oh, I see. You're saying that even if you have an external, you'd still have no computer to use so it's pointless, right? I don't really know, I just felt bad that you said you were losing all your old files.
