Title: The Pink Notebook

Pairing: KyuMin

Rating: Pg

Summary: Curiosity gets the better of Kyuhyun.

“Sungmin-hyung… what are you doing?” Kyuhyun inquires, sauntering over to where the said boy was sprawled on the living room floor.

With a start, Sungmin hurriedly slams the notebook he was writing in. Kyuhyun’s eyes narrow in suspicion as he looks down at his hyung with a questioning gaze.

“K-k-kyuhyun! When did you get here? I didn’t hear you.” Sungmin says, faking a laugh. Kyuhyun ignores the question and frowns when Sungmin moves and hides the pink notebook behind him.

“What are you doing hyung?” Kyuhyun asks again. Sungmin smiles cheerfully, but the younger male could see the hint of anxiety in the elders eyes.

“Writing.” Sungmin says, the word coming out in a rush. He picks himself up from the ground and sprints to his room to avoid any more questions. “Tired. Long day.” He says as he closes the door shut.

Kyuhyun stands there in confusion as he purses his lips and tilts his head to the side. Something about Sungmin’s behavior was suspicious, but he just pushed the doubt away and sauntered towards the kitchen.

Apparently, ddangkkoma wasn’t allowed to be fed by Yesung.

3 days later, Kyuhyun sees the pink notebook again in Sungmin’s lap and the elder’s hand scribbling something on the white pages. His hyung was writing while having such a dreamy smile on his lips that it made Kyuhyun very curious as to what he was doing. Trying to be stealthy, he moves closer to where his hyung is - sitting on a couch in the middle of the dressing room.

Just as he is able to see the words in the notebook, their manager calls that it’s their turn to perform. Swiftly, the notebook is snapped closed and stuffed into Sungmin’s bag. Kyuhyun eyes the bag as stylists and managers push them forward and out of the room. He catches the small grin on Sungmin’s lips and the twinkle of delight in the eyes.

He frowns and nibbles on his bottom lip. Just what is Sungmin writing in that innocent pink book?

Curiosity killed the cat Kyuhyun-ah…

_-_-_-_

A week later, all thoughts of the notebook out of his head, Kyuhyun catches Sungmin on the balcony of their dorm, hunched over his lap and frowning delicately in concentration. He pokes his head through the sliding door and sees the notebook on his hyung’s hands.

Curiosity flares in his eyes as they lock onto that book.

He knew that someone writing something in a notebook wasn’t all that exciting or fascinating, but the look in Sungmin’s eyes after he finishes scribbling madly into that notebook would make anyone crazy with curiosity.

He bites his thumb gently as he watches his hyung. Sungmin had finished doing whatever he was doing on the paper and was smiling so proudly at the contents of the page, it made Kyuhyun want to walk over, snatch it away from his hyung’s hands and greedily let his eyes scan the words decorating the page. Finally making up his mind; he turns on his heels and walks away.

He was determined to find out what was in that notebook by the end of this week… no matter what.

The first opportunity to sneak a peak into the notebook came the following morning. He would’ve taken the book unnoticed last night, but Sungmin slept with it under his pillow - that sneaky bunny.

Sungmin was currently in the bathroom, taking a morning shower. Using this given chance, Kyuhyun goes back into their shared room and immediate searches for that small notebook. A smile graces his lips when he spots the object, which was hidden under a pile of clothes.

His lips goes dry as he flips the little notebook in his hands, the cover was just pink in color and black words reading “Lee Sungmin” was printed neatly on the bottom corner. Why he was so nervous suddenly was something he would like to know himself. As soon as he touched the book, his heart was fluttering like mad.

“It’s just a notebook Kyuhyun,” He mutters, flipping open the cover.

…A notebook that Sungmin-hyung pours his heart into everyday…

The first page read:

“To those eyes scanning this page,

Beware, for this is a personal journal,

Secrets, thoughts, emotions, feelings,

All the special things, undisclosed things,

This is not a book for you to read for enjoyment,

(Heechul-hyung, drop the book and back away. Now.)

For if I find out you have read this, and words of my secrets have spread,

I will find out who you are, and hunt you down,

Curiosity can be a dangerous thing… agree?”

Kyuhyun hesitates whether or not to continue as he stares at the first page. Sungmin must treasure this very much, very very much (No, he was not jealous.) to even write such warnings. He felt a bit bad about reading some personal things for the eyes of his hyung only, but his curiosity wins the battle. (Yes hyung, curiosity is a dangerous thing…but then, Heechul reading this is equally dangerous.)

But before he even flips to the next page, the light pitter-patter of feet can be heard. He quickly stuffs the notebook back under the clothes and dives to his bed. And with perfect timing, the door swings open as an oblivious Sungmin walks in, drying his wet hair.

Kyuhyun frowns lightly as he pretends to read the book in his hands.

He should lock the door next time…

The next opportunity comes his way during practice. Sweat glistens on everyone’s body and face as they’re given a 15 min. break. Again, Sungmin is sitting by the open windows of the room as he is writing in that notebook while quenching his thirst. But then Eunhyuk and Donghae call him out of the room, for what reason Kyuhyun didn’t know. (No, he was so not jealous.) He takes this chance and stealthily moves to Sungmin bag by the corner and slips out the pink notebook.

Taking a glance around the room, he is assured that nobody else will bother him. For everyone was either

a) Passed out on the floor, example: Leeteuk. (We argue it’s because he’s getting older, but he ignores reason.)

b) Going over the routine again, example: Shindong and Hankyung. (Shindong because he has nothing better to do and Hankyung because he’s just a perfectionist.)

Or…

c) Just talking and resting, example: Ryeowook and Yesung (They’re the YeWook couple, what’d you expect?)

…And in Heechul’s case, teasing Siwon and Kangin with endless remarks.

Kyuhyun snorts as he witnesses the scene displayed before him, he sneaks a glance towards the doors and focuses back to the notebook on his lap. He flips to the first page,

“Tuesday,

I wonder how it would feel…

To have long delicate fingers caress my skin?

To be lulled to sleep by a low, velvety voice?

To be embraced by long strong arms?

To be able to make that heart-melting smile, only smile for me?

To touch those lush, red lips?

To smile and say those words itching to be said?

To be the cause of his happiness?”

Kyuhyun blinks and reads the page again. It surprised him at how… deep and poetic Sungmin wrote. In pure honesty, he was expecting drawings, doodles of pink… anything and just a typical diary entry. This had a lyrical rhythm to it and made questions pop into Kyuhyun’s mind. The obvious one was,

Who is the person Sungmin is talking about? (No he is so totally not jealous. Remember, he is doing this all out of curiosity.)

Before he is able to read on further, the doors of the practice room burst open and a giggling and laughing Sungmin, Eunhyuk and Donghae emerge. As if nothing happened, Kyuhyun places the notebook back into the back and swiftly gets up to his feet, pretending to be stretching.

He smiles innocently at his hyung when he walks over and starts to talk to him.

Next time… he’ll read two pages instead of one…
