Non-communicating directors

Any suggestions for dealing with directors who seem to be incapable of communicating information?

Three examples from my current show:

use email to discuss all the important things, then wave it in their face in print-out form and say "we discussed this"? yay giving them a taste of their own medicine.

also, I can most likely tentatively work the show, when do you need me to start learning the show in typical hurried fashion? =)
