Weakness

When I look at the people in this world, from up close and at a distance, I see a lot of weakness. I see humanity paralyzed by fear, and a much smaller percentage of that humanity taking advantage of this fact. So much weakness, and it's continual avenues of acceptance ( Read more... )

I understand what you are saying, but at the same time, I feel as though you should counter-balance this by teaching her that it's okay to fall apart. It's okay to feel down. It's okay to cry. You learn strength by getting up after each weak moment. Your mother, for example, is a strong woman, but also a woman who has always been afraid to show any type of weakness. In that sense, she gave you security, but denied you the right to simply FEEL and express without giving you a hard time.

You are as aware as I am that balance is the key to all things.

Of course, balance is the gospel of enlightenment. I just don't want her to ever use weakness as an excuse. For an example in balance, when she competes in bjj tournaments she must train her best. Go into it with only doing her best and coming out victorious in mind. She must not think of losing one second of any match. But if she does lose, it's ok. Soak in it that day, and tomorrow come back to training so you may never feel that feeling again.
Being strong doesn't mean you cannot express yourself, but the opposite. Being strong means you are not afraid to express yourself. Like every homosexual afraid to come out of the closet because of the pain they might go through, that is weakness.
I want her to feel free to say and do what she feels, like I do. My mother might of denied herself the right to feel and express, but I am quite good at it.
