c'mon fates, let's fight

I am feeling particularly kinetic lately, where I had not the week before. When we last left our hero (big hint, it wasn't here on the blogs, it's if you actually *talk* to me) we were in a rut of some sort and were apathetic to all stimuli. So one decided to pull one's self out of it, involuntarily in a way, by being way too busy for one's own ( Read more... )

oh the horror... sk3l3t0n_k3y November 17 2006, 20:46:41 UTC
Yeah see this is where it gets fun: I asked the director dood what he was looking for, he said 'classic horror,' i.e. stuff like the Omen, lots of spooky choirs etc. Then later that day I was talking to the producer and he said he was looking for a sparse, stark sound.

So I'm gonna go with the classic approach first. What do you suggest, junkie xl?

Yeah I think I ran into you once in full-beard mode...which after a few weeks got whittled down to goatee-mode for some different shots. Then there were 2-4 shots of just moustache-mode, which are pretty friggin hilarious. Soul-patch mode lasted even shorter, maybe one hour. If there's one thing I've learned from making this movie, facial hair is a pain in the ass and stoopid.

What are you up to?

I think I recall the half-beard, and then the dog butt (Am I the only person in the world who calls it that??) Yosh and I were trying to convince you to keep the soul patch thru dinner, but no dice there. Looking forward to seeing the movie though!

What am I up to? Working on random photography projects and recovering from a narsty headcold. ; )

And, if you are going for more symphonic passages in your horror movie, I came across this tips and tricks

I think David Lynch is the master of spooky sound design, but you need a sparse film to make that work.

Yeah well that's the thing y'see, rudeeey... I finishded that song that will eventually be released as "7-10 Split," allegedly released next spring.

In the meantime you are right, the more sparse the action, the easier it is to apply one single note to a character or mood. Bitchcock had it easy cuz there were no 'realtime edits' or multiple angles of one shot. I guess in some way that makes him more effective...

What the hell are you up to, what with all yer 7 side-projects etc?
