Madsen's obviously very upset, either comfort him or leave him the hell alone - he doesn't need your unwanted comment right now.

I'm sorry you feel that way Madsen. I think you're an incredible friend. I know we don't hang out much anymore, but it's not cuz you're unwanted.

A lot of people feel awkward in big groups. I certainly do. You're not unwanted, I don't know why you think that. Last night, they're all like "Where's Madsen?? Someone call him and tell him to get his ass over here" So yeah, definitely not unwanted.
