Not necessarily _my_ heros, but ones that would fit into your defenition. I will put an * next to ones that are heros to me.

Reverend Carlton Pearson*
Bill Clinton*
Maynard Keenan*
Bud Clark*
Dweezil Zappa*
Mike McCready*
Henry Rollins*************
John Stewert*
Dan Rather
Alton Brown*

Ok, only one of them is not a personal hero. Feel free to ask why they are a hero for any of them.

My list would go as follows (not in any particular order):

1. Mick Foley (Has given donations of vast amounts of money to charitable organizations, is part of the SmackDown Your Vote! Campaign)
2. Dalai Lama (Need no explanation, I don't think)
3. Al Franken (Nationally syndicated talk show host, does USO tours)

Okay, it's late and I'm running out of the ability to type the explanations. I'll assume you know who these guys are.

4. John Stewart
5. Michael Jordan
6. Sandra Day O'Connor
7. Neil Gaiman (Defender of Liberty Award for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, and a GLAAD award as well. Finally, look at "Death talks about Life.")
8. Jimmy Carter
9. Bill Clinton
10. Sarah McLachlan (If you have not seen this Video, watch it. http://www.worldonfire.ca/)
