do you meet him exactly as he is sitting on that couch near the playing card? because that's adorable.
i love john steinbeck! "seductive temptations of easy money and morals..." sounds like an interesting story and the typical "my-name-is-steinbeck-and-women-are-always-evil-in-my-books!" which i have no objection to.
Haha no, unfortunately not, I meet him at the big fancy law office he works at and we walk to some grungy (but yummy) Chinese restaurant. That little set-up just happened to be on the way.
I'm pretty excited about this book. I've only read Of Mice and Men, The Grapes of Wrath and Cannery Row.
Yep, this is exactly the same problem I've been reading about in different forums. I really just need a junk bike that I can ride around and not really worry about. But if it's going to cost too much just to fix the chain and the brakes, then I'll just give it away. Also, it is definitely too tall for me, but I'm just ignoring that fact for now, lol.
i ride a ""men's"" road bike every day and my vagina and other girl parts don't suffer from it.
i would just invest in hardcore lock or two for your cruiser, which i just googled and which looks pretty sweet. if you get a chain with rectangular links they can't be cut with wire cutters -- and if you loop the chain through both wheels, and secure it with a U-lock, then the only way someone could steal it is by using a battery-powered saw. (which particularly devious people do use.) i usually park on quieter streets, in front of a small business. (this in brooklyn, nyc).
The seat that's on there is impossible to sit on it's so uncomfortable. Even my boyfriend couldn't do it. I'm just a weakling maybe, haha.
Anyway, I've gotten more daring about locking my cruiser up, because I do have a nice chain and U-lock (or at least my boyfriend does and I borrow it) and I don't leave it for long periods of time. But still, it would be nice to have this POS bike that I can carry up to my third floor apartment without breaking a sweat like I do with my heavy cruiser.
