Tell people that you found it on the street...with a (FREE) sign on it! And then "sign" can be objectively interpreted. Like, a "sign" for them might be a piece of paper, but for you it's cobwebs and sticky dust. :)
once upon a time i found a bike on the street too, it was in oakland though and i didn't want to take it on BART and so i took it to a friend's house where i left it for a few weeks before it mysteriously disappeared.....it was a little schwinn university, my size and everything, and it still makes me sad to think about. oh well, maybe one of these days i will *find* another bike, your story gives me hope!
what the fuck i wish people left bikes on my street
once my boyfriend and i found a TANDEM that someone had just abandoned in an alley, so we took it home and cleaned it up and took care of it and had a glorious week of tandem-ing everywhere until its true owner saw us and reclaimed it. it was a bitter day.
Very cool! One of my old housemates built a bike sort of like that, and now that I think about it, it must have had back-pedal brakes because there weren't handlebar brakes.
