Is Utopia possible?

In the movie The Village, we watch a tiny little community nestled in a clearing surrounded by woods. It is an idyllic scene - a quaint little town governed by kind and wise elders, with love and a spirit of helpfulness for each other member of that society. Unfortunately, I do not believe such a world exists here on earth for a perfect Utopia. Violence and evil will always exist as long as the temptation and opportunity exists for it. I would love to live in a society where everyone helps everyone out, where you put the interests of others above yourself in order to make the community as a whole happy. But even in those remote societies you mentioned, I am sure there is more that goes on behind the scenes. Maybe it's just me being a skeptic, but everyone here commits wrongs in some form or another, and those wrongs will hurt others around them. The elders in The Village kept everyone there sheltered from evil, but they did it based on fear and a lie, which in my opinion is still wrong (granted though, the lesser of two evils). But even despite their greatest efforts to protect everyone, evil crept in anyways. But even though a perfect society may not exist until the next life, the least we can do is just like those elders - do everything you can to prevent violence. Keep peace, if even ( ... )

You have a point - evil did creep into the sheltered community of The Village. I guess it's just a constant battle against man's true nature.
