Shifter? Starting sticking and now it won't shift to a higher gear, stays on my largest cog in the back. Typical Shimano stuff. My roommate works at a bike shop, so he's gonna give it a look see and maybe take it apart, but it's sort of a long shot. It's a Dura Ace shifter, less than a year old, it shouldn't be doing this type of things.
Next pair will be a pair of Campy with some sort of adapter to make it work with everything else - like one of these:
But with that said, half the people I've worked with have had to entirely replace Shimano DA or Ultegra shifters in the last two years because of cable failures destroying the shift mechanism.
Yup - when I took everything off to inspect, the cable housing was in extremely bad shape and there were wires from the the housing sticking into the shifter, itself. I really do wonder if some parts of that wire got stuck in the ratchet and that's what's stopping it from catching, anymore.
Y'know, I've got a pair of somewhat battered Campy Record shifters you could have. The reason I'm not using them is they're 8 speed and for a while it was nearly impossible to get 8 speed cassettes, which I go through once a year. However, I *believe* if you take them to Veccio's and drop down about $70 they can convert them to 10 or 11.
Maybe - I'm hoping and old pair of 9 or 10 speed campy shifters come up NOS - it would almost be cheaper!

That's cooking fast for that distance, esp. sans gears. I'll bet you were feeling like throwing up.

But, that's when I can afford that - I'd like to start saving up for a MTB.
