As I understand it there are two issues with GM food plants. One is that the GM process itself will create harmful side effects, either to the consumer or to the environment around the plant. The other is that to protect the GM patents the plants are usually sterile so once you start growing GM you can't keep seed to plant next year's crop. Not a problem where its a business but a real problem when you are living off your land ( ... )

The first argument is 50/50 - there's a really tiny likelihood that GM wheat will contain anything shocking, and that argument is mostly "aiee, frankenfood scary" irrationality. People see GM and think that they've been dunked in tanks of glowing green Science goo ( ... )
