I've got to sort out my postal (or proxy - any volunteers) vote this week. I can more or less choose where I want to register. I want to do this 3 day mountain event, but the costs are putting me off a bit. Entry 420 USD (call it 450 CHF). Snowshoes 419 CHF because I don`t have any, trekking poles 125 CHF because you need them for snowshoeing and they`re damn useful for the running, trail shoes 180 CHF, as this is really offroad and high alpine stuff. Kit lust
Anyone got experience with Trail Running shoes (andygates and ravenbait maybe?)? Looking to buy a pair over the next few weeks, and am wondering in particular about Gore Tex or not. Heard varying opinions. Some say that although it keeps you dry, if moisture comes over the top of the shoe, it then stays inside the shoe and won't drain out.
