Do you watch Torchwood? The reason I bring it up is the gender roles in the show. They refer to sexual orientation as so quaint. I was reading an article recently (but for the life of me, I can't remember where) that was saying that we really only had a term for homosexuality in the last 50 or so years. Before that, who cared really? Obviously if you want to procreate, you need a partner of the opposite gender. Otherwise it gets more complicated (without the assistance of donors and such). But aside from that, you love who you love, regardless of their gender. Why pick one? Why even feel like you should? I fell in love with Scott. I would have fallen in love with Scott if he were a tall blonde amazon woman. I love Scott because he's Scott. Would I have acted on it if he were a woman? I don't know honestly...but it's food for thought.

My mother was a stay at home mom and dad a work-a-holic. It sounds like a similar construction (- except my mom is crazy and was in and out of rehab. But hey, no one is perfect and I love my mother.) to what you grew up with. I think that gender stereotype is becoming a thing of the past. It's difficult to afford one stay at home partner with the economy these days unless you have a fleet of children that make it even MORE impossible to afford child care outside the home ( ... )
