From the Ashes (A Dumblewald Fic): Chapter 1 - The Cage

Well, I promised artemisrampant a Dumblewald fic a while ago. When I promised, I had a really good idea of what I wanted to do with it and where it was going to go. Of course, being me, I never wrote down an outline or anything, just a couple paragraphs of exposition in a notebook and a bigger beginning of the first chapter in a livejournal draft, which was

This is excellent, brief as it is. It's funny, because I wasn't sure if I'd be able to fully picture Dumbledore as anything other than Ageless and Wise, but this really keeps him in character while translating him to a different stage in his life. Great intro, basically - now I can't wait for the action!

(Take your time, of course, and do your Skins thing because you should never feel like you need to write fic on somebody else's account. But still, I'm excited!)

*phew* I'm glad you like it. I'm also very much relieved you like my Dumbledore characterization. I'm trying to keep him on the innocent, bookish side, and not stray too much into angst. That's why he's "sulking." Because he's a little bit childish. Obviously, there will be confusion, and eventually some pretty serious beans, but I'm going to make sure he doesn't go all emo on me.
