“Ash, you got a minute?” This was it. Sean swallowed, his throat suddenly dry.
“Yeah,” Ash stepped closer and Sean felt his heart begin to pound in his chest.
“Mickey told me it was your idea for me to take the step up.”
“Oh, I never had him down for a grass.”
Sean smiled, “Yeah, well you know, I just wanted to say thanks.” Sean cast his gaze down to the carpet. “People haven’t exactly queued up to believe me in the past. Normally just Emma and I suppose...”
I felt every ounce of me screaming out,
But the sound was trapped deep in me.
Sean kicked himself as he fumbled over his words, unable to understand why he was finding this so difficult. “I suppose I just wanted to let you know I appreciate it.” Sean let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding.
“Oh stop, I’m getting misty.”
“Seriously.” For the first time during the whole conversation Sean looked Ash in the eye, “Thank you.”
Ash smiled, “It’s a pleasure.”
