OMG, I LOVE these stories about your MIL. We should put her and my mom together in a room and they can plan their own wedding.
Ugh... a speech? pushing you to make table linens? bows? This is CLASSIC MIL. You say it "wasn't so bad," but honey, that sounds like a handful! Seriously you gotta go buy that book, you will totally see yourself in it! The main character sounds just like you!
Yes, my future SIL seems to think that she's going to be giving a speech at our reception. Isn't that usually reserved for the maid of honor & best man? She also seems to think that she'll be featured in our slide show during dinner. Um....hello? This is a slide show at our WEDDING. Not a slide show at a party to show everyone who our families are. hmmmm.
I will look for that book when I'm at Target this weekend. I know they carry a lot from the author.
I may end up writing a book myself when this is all over. But, knowing my FMIL, she'll want rights to the proceeds.
I don't think it's unreasonable for her to have the opportunity to make a speech. Remember at Katie's wedding when Libby surprised K&T and read her poem? At my friend Stephanie's wedding, both myself and the MOH said a little something - you and I were co-MOHs at Katie's wedding, and we both had the opportunity to say something - I simply chose not to. I've been to weddings where they pass the mic around to anyone who wants to say anything. I don't think it's an unreasonable thing for her to ask.
