There is no desert here.

[Leto's finally made his way to the beach, lured by curiosity and the sound of sand, but this is very disappointing--not to mention a little dangerous. If it's possible for the written word to sound sad, he manages.]

No, there isn't. As far as I know, this place has anything but desert.

There must have been one wants; the ground here feels too dry for otherwise.

Too dry?

[Amelia hasn't been to the beach yet. She does not know of the sandy places.]

Are you near the mountains? The ground gets rocky there.

[Leto hesitates. He really, really intensely dislikes these talking books. He doesn't trust them. In fact, he almost doesn't reply at all.]

Further beyond that.

So it would seem. Do you miss it?

Miss it? My blood is screaming for dunes that are not here.

I once cursed the winds of my home, yet having been parted from the desert for so long, even now I have found myself missing the endless sands.

[Ganon, you are a-speakin' his language.]

So often I hide myself away in the heat of my home's dual suns, but now I find myself longing for their warmth. How odd, to find ourselves longing for the very things we once shunned.

[A stranger approaches.]

[Gaara stares at him, trying to assess the threat level. He stays quiet, feeling comfortable with the sand all around him.]

[Threat level: Low. For the moment, anyway.

Leto tips his head in Gaara's direction, nice and casual-like. They're both comfortable in the sand, though Leto's not very happy with that water in front of him.]

[He didn't hear his post, having paid little attention to the strange journal. Being socially-inept, he takes a moment to digest the gesture. Figuring it doesn't carry a threat, Gaara nods slightly at him in return.]

[Socially-inept, meet socially-inept-and-royal. Nice to meet you.]

You smell of sand, my friend.

[The hint of a smile on his face would imply this is a good thing.]

There was one once, but thanks to the Malnosso, it's been flooded and turned into that deceptively small ocean.

[Grell, you are so lucky. If he didn't already know your voice, he would completely ignore you.]

An ocean? I see. Remembering it and seeing are indeed two very different things.

[If he insists on writing, Grell will change and write, too. Good luck reading her girly script. And kya, he remembers her. *A* ]

Not one for the water, I take it? A shame, with that lovely body of yours, it seems well suited for the beach.

[Grell what is that writing even. It takes Leto a minute to respond, if only because he has to translate those "letters" into actual writing. Yeesh.]

Water is the last thing I find myself interested in; the sand, however, feels

[Oops, he forgot to finish his sentence. Distracted by sand!]

Sorry if this is a bit of an odd question, but.. why were you looking for a desert?

Because the desert is my home. Who would not wish for a taste of that in this place?

Ah.. I didn't know.. I've never met someone before who lived in the desert. But it's only natural that you want to see some of home in this place, otherwise you might get a little homesick, right?
