Is this normal, for the first half of September?

We had a surprisingly cool summer -- an awful long heat wave in July but otherwise very pleasant. September has also, so far, been a little cooler than the past few years.

There seems to have been much more rain north of us; north of the Arkansas River. Our summer was about average although September seems to be hotter than usual. We have had more rain this summer than what we've had the past couple of years, and that helps to moderate the temperature and keep the grass growing.

The weather changes very slowly. We don't live long enough to see the pattern. For example, we can't comprehend the cold weather of 100 years ago. We may associate 'normal' weather with the weather we grew up with just as we love the music that was popular when we were young. :)

That's the thing, the way the weather is now is not how I remember it when I was a kid. I remember 90 degrees being a big deal rather than a regular thing. And we used to go ice skating every winter, but nowadays it's rare to have below-freezing temps long enough for the lakes to freeze. But my memory could also be wrong -- I should look up the temps back in the mid-1970s and see how they compare to my memory. :)
