I love Dell, personally. Get 1 gb of ram - you'll be very happy you did. And consider a DVD burner - you can copy all your data onto one single disk that way. If you use SD cards, like in your Pocket PC, you might want to get a card reader installed - I use mine to transfer stuff to my PDA, and to copy my photos to my laptop. Otherwise, you probably won't need one.

If I can find out specifics on Steve's laptop I'll let you know. It is a Sony Vaio, and we paid $1500 for it in Jan 2005 so the same critter is bound to be cheaper now.
