I found pictures of the monocycle. Its based off of a late 1800's unicycle thing. There was also plan for a pre-WWII tank with armored sides.

I could have sworn I'd seen pictures of a steampunk version of it, but I can't find them now so I may have been imagining things.

Oooh, cool! And the WWII tank looks sort-of steam punk, maybe that's what you were thinking of? This is what I was talking about. :)

I thought I remembered a monocycle with lots of brass fittings and fancy touches, but I might have been remembering my ideas for what I'd do with one if I had one and the appropriate tools/skills/time.

I suppose it was inevitable one the Segway came out; put something with wheels in front of people and somebody will try and make it go faster. That thing looks cool and like a really bad idea all at the same time. Maybe that adds to the adrenalin rush of riding it?
