A Fine and Private Place is an old favorite. Archy and Mehitabel.... well, that one came from the dark recesses of my memory somewhere! I don't specifically remember reading it, but cockroaches aren't all that common in literature. Sort of up there with Rhinoceroses. Which I also loved. Do I sense a theme coming on here?

I considered both An otter's Tale and Make way for Ducklings...

4,5,6,9, and 10 are right (10 is Ulysses).

#3 wrong. (and almost diametrically opposed in tone to what it really is, too.) I think theres a copy of Metamorphosis around here somewhere, if I can find it I'll post the first line just for contrast. I'm definately not a Kafka fan though, much too dark for my tastes.

Wow, it's been too long since I've read The Blue Sword.

I've never been able to decide which I like better, The Blue Sword or The Hero and the Crown. I picked The Blue Sword because I found it on the shelf first. (Note to self, organise bookshelves. Again.)
