Well, the car is at the shop, having bit-by-bit stopped working over the course of a couple miles. When it finally stopped, it was almost at the top of the hill facing up, so I waited for a break in traffic and let it roll back and into the other lane doing something like a 3-point turn to be facing downhill again. If electrical things were slowly dying or acting weird, it was probably the battery running down...because the alternator wasn't charging it. Probably. Been there, seen the symptoms.

Ironically, I'll get the first paycheck from the new job in a couple days.

Did your's turn out to be troublesome, or an easy fix?

I had to get towed to the shop. Since I have a much older car, it took longer for the part to arrive than to have it replaced. I was on my way within 3 hours of calling the tow truck.
