The state government had to ask the federal government for assistance, and they didn't for like five days. That is why it is taking so long for a response. All the blame should be on Louisiana.

i understand that why should the state goverment have to ask for assitance a retarted monkey could figure out that they needed help theres a lot more to the story and they knew before it happen it would be bad. the levies were never fixed and the money was used in the iraq war ALLEGERENDLY but if that is true which im thinking it is i would have to disagree and say that the balme isnt only on louisiana. i dont know and this is just a question but in nyc did they ask for help or did it just come i dont know the answer im just wondering

It called states rights. It keeps the federal government from running throughout the states doing whatever they please. It's all part of the checks and balance system. If the feds had absolute power than chaos would ensue because there would be no longer a use for state government. Congress did not approve all the money that was requested to repair the levies. They approved about 1/30 of it. However, the levies may not have held anyways. But it probably would have helped. I'm not sure about the money for Iraq thing. I don't know if they federal government helped at all in NYC. I believe most of the rescue effort was done my the FDNY, NYPD, and civilians that flocked to the site trying to do whatever they could to help. They may have asked help from the feds to clean up ground zero. I am not sure though. All the blame is not on Louisiana but a large portion of it should be. They did not send the national guard where it should have been sent. They actually kept them out of New Orleans.

see this is all good to know because the press is so one sided and its hard to weed out whats true and wahts not but the whole nyc thing that was on cnn and i didnt think it sounded right what i was getting at which i told you is that the step to call in the feds in a state of emargency which most deffintaly a unnesseary step. i personaly think that there should be a law saying they must come wwithout being asked. and help because the people who live there deserve help who want it and need to be evacueted, they pay taxes they deserve that im also wondering about the last part of that they held them without comming in thats redicoulos (howeveryou spell it.) where did you hear it... is that true ive been whatching cnn constonally and they never said that ummmmm im not saying its wrong though im sure your right
