so, virg may close my zoo. why? because the city is 11 million in debt. from the state journal "Mayor Virg Bernero said raising taxes or dipping into the city's $12.5 million reserves are not an option. The city gives the zoo an annual subsidy of about $1.26 million. The mayor said he's considering having another entity take over the zoo." too bad ( Read more... )

sparty's now has delicious chocolates that support fair trade and endangered species! i got a mint chocolate from the jane goodall institute. this makes me happy b/c i don't like sparty's coffee even though it's fair trade. my dad would roll his eyes at me right now, so i know i'm being a good tree-hugging liberal.
