I have come to the realization that being in a tribute band requires multiple mutual musical masturbation. what is delusionally musicianship is becoming a musical photocopier

Can't even get into the concept of a tribute band. Shouldn't a band try to be itself? Sure one borrows and may even want to put in a word of praise and thanks; but isn't the idea of living to make your own contribution?

Meanwhile, I hope you can peel the guy off them and get him to start something real.

Obviously he's not privvy to this post because he's not in lj land . I sent out a woishbird yesterday for a local to him band that will allow me to be a part of it. Today he tells me he now has a guitar player & a drummer. It's a genesis only band. But it probably won't be a tribute band as his nature isn't really suited to tribute style playingor singing. He's too original on stage for that. Now tonight I am going to send anothwe wishjbird out to get a keyboard player & a bass player & still ,make surethat I'm included somehow. He told me once it's together I will do backups only when he wants me to & my capacity as vocal coach wil stay intact, This is good enough for me.
I've got a jam gropu thta I got to sing with today & they are awesome! I'm feeling pretty good about things. Fuck downing grey- better yet UNFUCK them ;)
