My loving & inspiring mother left this world at 4:15 am at which point I woke up & just knew my mom had let go.... I learned so much about her from her marvelous friends in what they had to say to her & about her. Her love of music... Her artistry in quilt making. Her receiving accolades for her musical talent with such depth. A small loving tower ( Read more... )

I grieve with thee...

But as long as you, and others, remember her with love, she is not really gone. May her soul be refreshed by Whatever Happens Next, and may you take comfort from your many happy memories of her.

I think the hardest part was watching her decline for a week- I can't decide what's worse- a sudden ending or a slow gradual decline. granted a week isn't a LONG time but it feels like much longer when she breathed steadily & just slowly lost temperature...

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm glad you got to see her on Mother's Day and have some time with her after that, too. My dad's death (from lung cancer) was kind of similar. I visited for a long weekend in mid-April, then ran back down April 29 (a Thursday), got to talk with him some while he was responsive, but he just started sleeping more and more, and on the following Wednesday night he slipped away.

Normally you hear of a person dying of cancer potentially taking months.... I'm glad your dad didn't suffer too long. Thankfully mom looked peaceful most of the time.

cozseemsto think the gift is more than a sweater with cats & music on it. He thinks it's something spiritual to help me regain the use of my left arm & hand. In a word I call it motivation or maybe inspiration- I made her a promise when I was alone in her room when she'd already left her body that I'd regain the use of my arm & hand.
